Advanced Trigger Point Therapy
with Marty Morales, Certified Advanced Rolfer™, CMT (NCBTMB #451212-10) founder of the Morales Method® of Manual Therapy and Body Conditioning
Using the understanding of fascia from Structural Integration trainings, this class combines classic Trigger Point Therapy with myo-fascial bodywork to create an improved state of listening resulting in palpating and addressing trigger points in a unique manner. This training consists of:
Classic Trigger Point Therapy: Based on the work by Janet Travell, therapists will learn to find and work dozens of common trigger points that affect many of their clients. These trigger points include but are not limited to: neck, back, glutes, and legs.
Connective Tissue understanding of Trigger Points: Once palpated, trigger points will be worked using the method of ‘Directional Resistance’ and ‘Directional Ease’. Therapists will learn how to palpate for a trigger point and determine the direction in which the trigger point is resistant to movement and work in that direction to create a de-contraction of the trigger point muscle cells.
Trigger Point Therapy and Common Injuries: Therapists will learn about common injuries and how trigger point therapy can help these conditions. For example, treating Sciatica with Trigger Point Therapy can include work on Piriformis, Gluteal Complex, and Hamstring trigger points.
Based on Marty’s experience with Structural Integration, work with Chiropractors, teaching experience, and his years of working with clients, the information and skills taught in this class provide an opportunity for bodyworkers to effectively incorporate Trigger Point Therapy into their practice.
This course is part of the Morales Method® Pain Specialist Program.
After this workshop, a practitioner will have the skillset necessary to:
Palpate and find Trigger Points
Feel Directional Resistance in a trigger point
Work a trigger point and feel its de-contraction
Understand which trigger points to work on for certain injuries and complaints
